Hemorrhoids, often known as piles, imply the swollen veins in your anus and lower rectum. While piles develop inside the rectum, it comes to be known as internal hemorrhoids and that under the skin is known as external hemorrhoids.

Types:

  • External
  • Internal
  • Thrombosed hemorrhoids

Causes:

  1. Maintaining Poor Hygiene:
Being in the mid-equator zone, heat and humidity across the country are one of the biggest enemies for individuals having piles. Irregular showers and the unhygienic anal area would lead to constant irritation and itching become worse. Make sure to maintain very good hygiene, keep toilet paper handy, wash genital areas with warm water, gently dry the area. Alongside, you also need to avoid rubbing toilet paper or any cloth against the anal area and wear safe sanitary napkins to avoid rashes during the menstrual cycle (for women).
  2. Sitting on hard/rough surfaces:
Refrain from adding pressure to the anal area by not sitting on the floor for a prolonged time, having a comfortable chair is always a great idea along with a soft, small, and handy pillow.
  3. Drinking too much coffee:
Similar to alcohol, an excess of coffee is also a major factor that causes dehydration and a lot of irritation in the stomach. Caffeine often leads to constipation and so it is mandatory to consume it in a minimum required amount only.
  4. Lifting heavy objects daily:
Supposedly you work out at a gym which is indeed a great step, but it is strictly prohibited to overdo weight lifting and avoid heavy weight lifting. This in turn just ends up adding more pressure on the clot/s or external hemorrhoids. A casual routine to exercise is the best way to go away with the symptoms.
  5. Holding the urge:
When the body demands to defaecate it shouldn’t be delayed. This is a very common mistake which people with hemorrhoids avoid. This is due to the fear of the pain that accompanies during the passage of motions and the bleeding which leads to the individual postponing defaecation and this is the worst thing to do. On a usual basis, delaying defaecation makes the stool harder and difficult to pass.
  6. Straining Yourself:
The strain while passing motions without the urge to do so leads to an increase in pressure on the rectal and anal regions. The higher the pressure on veins, the more painful or bleeding hemorrhoids are. This force leads to increased pressure on the venous cushions with which, the soft tissues enlarge and distend. Make sure to be careful and aware of the strain being exerted on the bowels and avoid it as much as possible.
  7. Seating On Toilet For A Prolonged Period:
The more time spent, the greater is the strain for the bowel movement. There is the need to be conscious enough for the time required to be spent necessarily needs to be strict, not as a means to try and finish the most apprehended thing to do.

Thus, these common mistakes can aggravate piles in an individual.
